Casio Debuts New XJ-UT301WN LampFree Short Throw Projector For Education

Casio recently unveiled a new projector aimed at the education market. In the projector industry short-throw projectors are the standard for use in education. This new projector is known as the XJ-UT301WN and is billed, according to Casio, as the world's brightest LampFree Ultra Short Throw projector. The XJ-UT301WN comes with a native resolution of 1200x800 and a native aspect ratio of 16:10.

In addition to that, the projector also has a contrast ratio of 1800:1 and is capable of producing an image of 50" to 110". According to Casio, an 87" image can be projected from a distance of 21.5" from the screen while a 77" image can be displayed from 18.8" away. The XJ-UT301WN also has support for 16.77 million colors and there is also a built-in mini D-Sub, HDMI and Composite for video connectivity. There is a WiFi option that is also available.

Like I mentioned earlier, the XJ-UT301WN is a lamp-free projector, utilizing Casio's LampFree technology. This means it is able to eliminate a very annoying issue that every projector has...short lamp life. Most lamps for projectors do not last long and they are pretty expensive to replace. Casio's LampFree technology uses a combination of a laser, florescent element and LED light to create a hybrid light source. This light source is good. This light source is good for up to 20,000 hours and is capable of a 3,100 lumen output.

Casio has fitted the XJ-UT301WN with 2GB of integrated memory which allows for file format storage internally. This means that you don't need an external computer to store files. In addition to that, Casio has also developed a mobile app for both iOS and Android that allows the user to annotate presentations from the mobile device as well as capture and save. What's more is that the app also allows the user to display a web browser in real time.

Casio expects the XJ-UT301WN projector to ship sometime in Q3 of this year for a retail price of $1,999.99.

Acer's S5210M Interactive Short-Throw Projector

Projectors and PowerPoint presentations are becoming mainstays in company business meetings and school classrooms. It isn't very hard to throw a presentation together, and showing it doesn't take much work either, though most PowerPoint presentations are not too exciting. Well, Acer is hoping to make PowerPoint presentations a little more interesting with its new S5210M short-throw projector, which is said to allow you to interact with your presentations.

The Acer S5210M is a short-throw projector capable of projecting from as close as 19.2" away from the screen making it perfect for small conference rooms or classrooms. In addition to that, Acer claims that this device, with a 0.61:1 throw ratio, can project a 77" image from 37.4" away. The projector has a maximum resolution of 1,600x1,200 with a contrast ratio of 4,500:1. In addition to that, this device is 3D ready if used with a 3D software player and DLP Link 3D glasses.

Coming with the projector is the Acer SmartPen. The SmartPen allows users to write on the image being projected in order to explain answers, highlight important details or give feedback. The pen is able to be used from up to 32 feet away from the image, if necessary. In addition to that, presenters can also import presentations to a web site in conjunction with their SmartPen notes.

The S5210M also comes with a plethora of outputs including two HDMI ports, two USB ports, a mini USB port, composite video port, S-Video mini DIN port and stereo mini jack. This device also comes with a USB Slide Show feature that allows for a presentation, video, or photo to be shown on a flash drive without having to use a computer. The projector can also be connected to multiple computers simultaneously and allows you to switch between computers during a presentation.

Acer is claiming that the S5210M provides up to 4,000 hours of lamp life and that the device also features Acer's EcoProjection power management feature that reduces standby power from 5 watts to 1 watt.

The Acer S5210M is available now at retailers in the United States and Canada for $999. The device also comes with a three-year warranty for the DLP chip as well as a 90-day warranty on the lamp.

Dell Wireless 3D-Capable S300w Short-Throw Projector

Dell has just released their newest product to come off of their projector line, the S300w. The S330w was designed primarily with presentations in mind though it does work well in classroom settings as well as in home theaters. The S300w is an all around well developed projector with a pretty nice spec sheet and some cool features.

First of all, the S300w is completely wireless. This gives a greater sense of flexibility and mobility than you have with most other projectors creating less of a hassle when you want to use it. A Conference-Control function has been implemented into S300w. This allows a moderator or conference leader to control and streamline presentations through a web-based control page. The S300w also offers multiple connectivity options which enhances multimedia presentations. This comes with an HDMI connector, microphone port and dual VGA connections which enable seamless transitions between presenters. RJ-45 gives the user network manageability including power management, updating firmware, checking status, receiving email alerts and much much more.

Hitachi CP-D10 Projector
